NJASK

This year the NJASK had many topics to write about. Some were good topics to write about and others were not logical to put in. The one about the librarian not having a book was the best one. It was the easiest to write about. The worst was the topic about the missing slice of cake. I think there should have been a better topic for us students to write about. I liked every other topic besides that one on the NJASK. I think this was the easiest NJASK I have took so far.

Speculative Writing

          Yes Johnny thought tomorrow is his mom's birtday.  It was Saturday and his mom has to work all day. "Perfect" he said to himself. He was thinking of things to give his mom. Finally he decided to make her a birthday card. He called his cousin Mary to help him make the card and she said she would be there in 20 minutes.
          "Okay. We need construction paper, a pen, colored pencils, glue, and glitter. First they cut out the card. Then they wrote- 

       Dear Mom,

Happy Birthday!

We hope you have a happy birthday and get what you want as a present.

We love you very much.

We hope you enjoy this day.

Johnny and Mary  

          "I think that's good enough" Johnny said happily.

          "All we need know is to draw some pictures. After they drew a picture of Johnny's mom they added glitter. Then they left it and went to eat lunch while the glue is drying. When they got back they saw Johnny's dog Sparky ripping up their birthday card. "No Sparky. Bad dog" Johnny yielded Sparky.

          "What are we going to do know" Mary groaned.

          "Lets make another one." Mary started working on the second card while Johnny locked Sparky in his room. When He got back Mary was almost done. "What do you have left to do?" Johnny asked

          "I just have to draw a picture and put on the glitter" A little while afeter they finished Johnny's mom came in.

          "SURPRISE!" They yelled together.

          " Thank you both" She replied.

Quote

            Do not accuse people for what they have not done. " Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." ( Theodore Roosevelt) Believe what  people say. There is no way to tell if it is the truth or not. Trust people for who they are.
            This has happened to me. When someone in my english class accused me of messing their things up. They should have gotten proof or asking someone else if they saw me doing that before getting fustrated at me for no reason. Do what you have with the information you have.
            This is now happening in middle and high schools now. There are now random locker checks. The administration is now checking students lockers or knifes, guns, and illegal perapenilia. The administration should only check the lockers of students they have tip-offs on. It is not right to check nice students who do not act up in class.
            It is not right to say certain people have done things with the wrong information. "We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." (J.K. Rowling) It is easy to accuse people of things they have not done. It is right to obtain the right information then accuse or to apoligize for their actions.

Uniforms

Dear Dr. Richard O' Malley,


          "The unity of freedom has never relied on uniformity of opinion." (John F. Kennedy) Public schools grades K-12 are trying to enforce a school uniform policy. School uniforms are not beneficial to creativity or freedom of clothing. As long as no one wears anything inappropriate uniforms are not needed. One, if we have school uniforms everyone will have to wear the same thing. Two, a student wears what they want to express them self. Lastly, we students should get a say in this debate since this decision affects us not the administration.
          Wearing the same thing blocks individuality and creativity. If everyone wears the same thing there would be no enjoyment on seeing other people's clothes. Everyone has their own taste in clothing. "That isn't true" is what the opposition would say. They are wrong because it is true. It will take away the student's freedom to dress the way they want. Parents will have to buy uniforms plus other clothes for outside of school. Creativity should not be allowed to be taken away from anyone.
          Clothes let people express themselves. People wear what they feel. If someone is happy they wear bright colors. If someone is sad they wear cool colors. "Uniforms can help students express themselves." That is what the opposition. They are wrong because students are not wearing what they want. Forcing us students to wear what we don't want is not right.
          Students should get a say. Since this decision affects us students it is only fair to us we get a say. We don't know how the uniforms will look. "We'll get nice uniforms" is what the opposition would say. They would just say that so students don't argue. We should decide if we have to get uniforms or not.
          Uniforms are a bad idea.  We all have to wear the same thing. Students wear what they want to express themselves. This is a big decision and will affect us students not administration. Uniforms are not a good idea. Students and their parents will get angry because the students are forced to wear the uniforms and the parents will be force to spend their money to buy them. There should be a vote weather to get uniforms or not.

            The New York Knicks are the official basketball team of New York. Everyone knows New York. It is one of the most popular states in the USA. If you show my commercial during a Knicks game the viewers will pay more attention to it. The players wear these jerseys almost everyday.

          New York Knick jerseys are the best jerseys. Knick jerseys have a good color combination and are made with extremely soft fabric. Even the players are comfortable wearing these jerseys while playing their games.

          The Knicks are very popular. Now they have star players such as Chauncey Billups, Carmelo Anthony, and Amar’e Stoudemire. At the rate they are going at the Knicks are going to make the playoffs. Then they will get even more popular because half the teams in the NBA who don’t make the playoffs are always forgotten. The Knicks are also defeating all the elite teams like the Celtics, Heat, Lakers, and the Spurs.

          Fans also wear jerseys to the games. Most Knick fans wear jerseys to the game. Every home about 85% of fans wear Knick jerseys. Wearing jerseys tell the players that you support them. By supporting the players it helps them gain momentum.

          These Knick jerseys don’t come in just one version. You can have their home jersey which is blue and orange. Away jerseys are white and orange. You can even buy Knick alternate attire. It is green and orange. These alternate jerseys are special because the Knicks only wear them on special occasions.

Commercial

I liked doing this commercial. We got to do what adults do what we had fun doing and what we students might never get to do in our lifetimes. These commercials have helped me better understand hw to write a pursuasive essay. I have learned how to give a statistic, how to write claims, and how to use pursuasive techniques. I enjoyed getting to film the commercials with the partner that we got to pick ourselves. My partner was Jason and our commercial was about Griffins which are the shoes of Blake Griffin who almost all sportsfans know. We got to film it out of school which I liked the most.

     You should display my commercial on your network because now the Knicks are amazing and everyone loves having Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire on their home team. The Knicks are becoming very popular and a lot of people are going to want to buy the player's jerseys. The Knicks play for New York and everyone knows that New York sports teams are always good and win championships. The Knicks are having an excellent season and are most likely going to make the playoffs and will get even more hype because there are going to be less teams playing.

During the Superbowl this year I saw one of my favorite commercials. It was an ad about snickers. It was around a minute but it still made me laugh. The commercial is about lumberjacks cutting down trees. One lumberjack is played as Betty White. In the ad Betty White is complaining that her back hurts  and another person insulted him by saying he's acting like Betty White. Then she says her back hurts and all of a sudden a huge log comes and knocks her to the ground in a pool of mud.Then she says "Now my front hurt." Then the guy who insults her says "Here eat a Snickers." She eats the Snickers bar a returns to her normal state as a man. They exchange betters and the commercial ends by showing a Snickers bar ripped in half.
I enjoyed watching this commercial because it was entertaining. It's not everyday you see an old lady get hit hard by a huge log. This commercial is really one people are going to rememberthroughout the future.

What I Learned

           I have learned many things during the span of our college and career unit. One thing was how to get a letter of recommendation. I learned that you need to get closed to two or three proffessors. I've also learned how to make my own resume.  How to set it up, what information to put in it, and what details to include under each heading.  The third thing I learned was how to research a college.  It is important to look up a college to see what majors they have, how expensive it is, and what extra-curricula activities they offer.  This college and career unit was very helpful to me, because I can use this as a reference when I actually go to college or try to get a job.

Technology

        I think technology is important because it helps with a lot of things. It makes people smarter by giving them information and stores it too. Technology helps design things like buildings, bridges, and other construction projects. Technology also allows gradidng to be easier.Part of the NJASK is graded by computers and when there are a lot of tests to grade technology is very useful. Technology helps making people smarter easier like in our english classroom we use the smart board and the clickers make it especially easier for the teacher to grade our tests. Without technology we would live almost like cavemen. There would be no computers, video games, or microwaves and stoves to cook our food.
        Technology is the most important thing in the world. It runs everything. We use technology to heat our houses, watch tv, we even use technology to clean the water we drink. We can go on the internet and look up anything we you want. It gives you information about everything. You look up something and thousands of sitrs pop up and you get to choose which one.
        The bad thing about technology is that some people get addicted to video games. If you get addicted to it you will get fat because you won't go outside. My sister is addicted to her computer and uses it all day or she goes to sleep for about four hours. Technology has its ups and downs but too much is not good.

Welcome to our class Ms.Carroll

            My name is Moiz Manzoor and I came from James Monroe. I like to play football and basketball. I also like to play videoames. What I like about middle school is gym and lunch. In gym you can choose what you want to do. Right now we can choose between volleyball and basketball. At lunch you can sit with your friends who are on other teams.
            First Mrs.Patalano checks everyone's homework then she goes over the grammar worksheet. I like using the clickers when we take tests and do study island. I also used to like when we read for the whole of fifth period. What I don't like is when we are recorded and then the whole class watches it.

Career Goals

         I have been wanting to be a police officer my whole life since I was little. I want to save people's lives and arrest people who are using drugs and other illegal substances. I play a lot of games where you use guns and always wanted to use one especially if I have to protect myself I will be trained. I will train hard to accomplish my goal.
        To become a police officer I only need to go to cllege for two years which will save money and I can get a job faster. It will also allow me to work longer (years wise).  Police officers also make a descent salary.
         I know if I work hard enough I am sure I can accomplish this.

Resolution

The new year is  the time to create a new me.  The resolution I have for 2011 is to do all my homework. If I did all my homework last marking period, I would have gotten all A’s.  The reason that I did not complete my homework at the beginning of this year is that I would often forget to take out everything I needed from my locker before I left for the day.  To accomplish this goal, I will write down all of my homework in my planner and write down what I need to take home on a post-it note and stick it in my locker.  If I accomplish this goal, my dad has promised me that he will buy me a new phone if I am able to get all A’s this marking period.  I hope to be on that new phone when second marking period grades come out!
